Multi-point locking

As the name suggests, multi-point locks have two or more positions where a bolt or cam operates. These additional fastening points are located where a door or cover could otherwise be prised open, such as the top or bottom of a door. To open a multi-point lock, simply lift and swing the handle to operate the cam and/or the remote latches in one smooth, quarter turn action. Multi-point locks are widely used on industrial enclosures, cabinets and containers, as well as on electric panels, machinery covers and lockers.

The majority of these products can be specified as weather resistant to IP65 standard. The options available on most of the ranges also include an industry-standard driver, a cylinder lock, a Euro profile lock or no lock.

Camlock specified the multi-point locking products on this site from Mesan, which has been serving the industrial enclosure sector for over 30 years and exports to over 35 countries. Like Camlock Systems, Mesan is accredited to ISO 9001 : 2008.

Swing handles, cam operation, Euro profile lock

The cam may be either a conventional cam with a leading and trailing edge or an actuator cam that also drives rods when the handle is turned. The cam can be flat or cranked and there is a very wide range of lengths to choose from.

Most of the swing handles with a Euro profile (keyhole shaped) lock can be specified with one of four levels of security. For applications requiring excellent security, Camlock’s high security lock has a patented mechanism designed to prevent unauthorized duplicate keys being cut in key cutting outlets. Where a moderate level of security is required, a cylinder lock can be specified. For frequently used applications that require low security, most of these swing handles can be specified with one of a range of industry-standard drivers, that provides a simple and convenient fastening. Some types of swing handles can also be specified with no lock or in a version designed to be secured with a padlock.
