This is our most popular safe. The RT31B is designed for direct installation into a vehicle. The safe is detachable from the base plate, which is anchored to the vehicle floor using the fixing kit supplied. Additional base units are available where two or more vehicles are in use. The safe locks automatically when presented to the base plate. The roll top is very easy to use, making it ideal for multiple collections of cash, vouchers or small valuables and their secure transportation. There is no need to unlock the safe to deposit items. The operator simply places loose or bagged cash or other items in the open top and rotates the handle effortlessly to close the top and deposit the items securely into the safe below.
Enhanced security is achieved by having two locks fitted. One enables the safe to be removed from the base-plate, the other gives access to the safe itself. Normally, we recommend that the keys are not held by the driver of the vehicle (or their escort) but kept in a secure location at the operating base.
Lock options available include keyed to differ, keyed alike, master keyed and reprogrammable systems. The locking operation of both locks is ‘push to lock, key to open’. The safe is usually supplied with two Series T8 high security ten pin radial pin tumbler locks that have a hardened steel construction and patented Octagon mechanism. However, locks are specified separately to enable you to choose the most appropriate locking system.
The safe is constructed from ‘Zintec’ zinc coated mild steel. All welded joints conform to ISO D1S79956, Part 3. The roll top door is manufactured from 4mm thick, hot rolled, mild steel. A blue epoxy powder coating gives the safe an attractive and durable finish.
