Technical Sales Advisor

Overview

Working as part of a small office-based sales team, the successful candidate will provide excellent customer service to enquirers and existing clients within their defined UK region, focusing on offering technical advice on locking solutions, maximising sales, and customer retention.

The ideal candidate would have the ability to proficiently speak a second language, such as French or German (but not limited to this).

 

Job description

  • Answer incoming telephone calls, and administer incoming enquiries coming into company e-mail inboxes, assigning to the relevant Sales Advisor or Technical Sales Manager as appropriate
  • Provide competent technical advice, pricing, and general customer service to existing and potential customers within the allocated region
  • Proactively follow-up all quotations and technical information provided, with a view to moving any negotiations to a level of closure, or involving the Technical Sales Manager as required
  • Proactively contact existing customers via telephone and e-mail on a cycle basis, to ensure customer satisfaction and learn of any potential forthcoming requirements
  • Arrange purchase contract forms for scheduled deliveries over a 12-month period
  • Remain customer focused at all times, providing a high standard of customer service
  • Analyse spend performance of existing customers, and monitor, review and update Special Price Lists awarded to certain customers
  • Manage a Business Under Negotiation (BUN) report showing current open negotiations
  • Compile and provide reports on customers and activities when necessary
  • Occasionally assist in sales order processing as required
  • Carry out other duties relevant to the role and reasonably within the capability, as required by the Sales Supervisor

 

Person Specification

  • Two years of experience in a sales office or customer service role
  • Educated to minimum GCSE level with passes in Maths and English 
  • Essential requirements are: excellent attention to detail, a willingness to learn and develop new skills, and a commitment to providing a high level of customer service
  • Working proficiency of a second European language desirable but not essential

  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and managers
  • Able to work both proactively and efficiently as part of a team, and under own initiative
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Courteous, friendly and flexible at all times, with a positive approach to work
  • Eligible to work in the UK
